Last Friday night, McKay had some friends here for a birthday celebration. Pictured are--back row: David Fraire, Colton Etheridge, McKay Chandler, Josh Blake. Front: JT Conover, Devon Brooksby. The rain stayed away long enough for this great crew to attract the neighborhood and they all played several games of Capture the Flag in the forest. We had Jared, Jaclyn and Jay Conover, Daniel, Maren, Caprice and Ellis Johnston, Tanner and Alex Beasley, Sam and Trevor Duncan, and all six of the Chandler boys, along with the party goers. I stood with a bird's eye view and watched them all scurry through the forest like ants on a mission. It was perfect.
Greg brought home several Darth Vadar masks (see Devon's head) which added spice to the evening.
These boys were perfect gentlemen, which was much appreciated.
McKay commented after the party that the night had been fun, but it felt just like any old night that his friends and the neighborhood gets together to play. I had a hard time feeling sorry for him-- oh, that every child had a herd of neighborhood kids and regular night games in the forest. But knowing that he wouldn't understand the blessing yet, I just reminded him that we don't always have birthday cake.
